Foto: I stood on a street corner on a sunlit day,
waiting for the clouds to pass and the wind to stop.
And it was there I saw an old woman dancing in the street
with not a sound around her.
Her hands mystically weaving a garment to the rhythm of her thoughts,
as her legs moved so gently like flowers swaying with the wind.
With her eyes slightly closed she looked to the sun, head tilted
and smiling, she danced in the street.
It was I that felt awkward and out of place and not properly dressed
for the occasion I watched.
I shouted old woman! From where does this music come?
Hush … she whispered, as she flowed up and down in the
middle of the street.
I’m reading she said, leaping over unseen objects,
bowing to unseen spirits, spinning in a circle she moved so lightly.
On the sidewalk I stood where the rain had not fallen, and I shouted
"old woman you hold no book, no pages with ink!"
But I will buy you a bowl of hot soup and then you will not feel
so lost and insane.
shhhhh! She said, I am reading and the words feed my hunger.
Her hands motioned as if she were a conductor leading a great
symphony and her feet moved as if she were a ballerina.
Laugh I could not, scared I was, thinking what ghosts would haunt
this poor old woman and command her thoughts like a
puppet on a string?
Aw yes old woman I shouted, now I see the book and the pages
you read with a half-smile I paid my face to muster up to wear.
The old woman stopped and opened her eyes to look at me and
said I hold no book, there is no ink and you see not what I read.
To her dance she returned in a different world on the street she moved.
To her I shouted then what book is it you dance to old woman?
What words do you hear like a song that causes you to dance in
the street like a foolish old drunk?
Her laughter echoed in my ears like a bell ringing in the sky as
she replied, it is the book of God I’m reading, as you watch
me here and now.
The sacred text written only upon the heart and spoken only by the soul.
As if it were a choir of Angels, we will hear the true written words
that no book of man holds with ink!
As many a cloud had passed and the wind had stopped blowing long ago,
it was the street I could not cross and the corner I could not leave.
As I watched the old woman read her book, there were no more
words to shout.
My eyes followed the rhythm of her movement, my ears no longer
deafened to the melody of the book she read.
On my heart the written words I saw as my soul spoke like a
choir of angels to me.
To my knees I fell, my hands cupped to my face to catch my cries.
For long ago as a child I remembered, how I read this book she reads.
Lifted by a hand of love so gentle was her touch.
As I rose from my knees the old woman held me and in the street
we danced the Book of God.
Brave I am not, but free from the lies of men I now see,
as I dance in the streets the words I read.
For I know; the heart is the only book God ever signed.

shhhhh ! Ela disse , eu estou lendo e as palavras alimentar a minha fome .

Ah sim velha eu gritei , e agora vejo o livro e as páginas

me aqui e agora.
